Do you have a Pay TV service like Foxtel? Do you watch the local free to air channels via the Foxtel or other Pay TV box as well? If you do you may be missing out on the best picture quality!

Many Pay TV services do have degraded quality of free to air channels that are sent through the Pay TV cable or satellite. So I strongly recommend that if you have a working antenna for Digital TV and good reception you should watch the local free to air channels via it. This is particularly important if you only have a standard definition pay TV service, because in this case you’ll be missing out entirely on high definition. There is a visible difference though even on the standard definition channels.

How do you know if you’re watching free to air via your pay TV box? The easiest way to tell is by thinking about how you change to the free to air stations. Do you pick up your Digital TV remote and change source or input? If so you are probably changing to Digital TV in that case. Do you just use the channel change or numbers on the pay TV remote? In that case you’re watching via Pay TV. So if you are doing this, I suggest put down the Foxtel remote and pick up your Digital TV remote, and find the source or input button. Use the arrows to select Digital TV, or just TV in some cases. You may need to retune your TV if you haven’t for a while.
