Antennas Suitable for Digital TV in Melbourne

For Melbourne if you are using the Mt Dandenong transmitter site you are best to have a VHF/UHF combination antenna. This will give you the ability to receive all channels, including the community channel. If you only want to receive the government and commercial channels, a VHF only antenna will be suitable. The antenna should be mounted in the horizontal polarisation.

By the end of 2016 the community channel C31 Melbourne will be moving to internet only transmission. Once this occurs there will be no UHF transmissions from Mt Dandenong so only a VHF antenna will be required.

Melbourne TV Channels

On Digital TV each VHF or UHF channel may actually contain multiple television or radio programs. This table lists the multi-channels that should be available in Melbourne from the Mt Dandenong transmitters. There are 35 TV channels and 5 radio channels available.

After an auto-tune, check the number of channels the process has found. If you are missing all the channels from a particular network on this list, then it is possible your antenna or antenna cabling may faulty.
