Too Many Old Game Consoles and Other AV Devices?

Do you find you have to keep swapping AV cables to use your older game consoles and devices on your new TV? This is a pretty common problem because new Digital TVs are dumping old Composite Video inputs in favour of newer technology like HDMI.There’s a much better way and it won’t cost you as much as a new console!

The solution is an AV switch. An AV switch is a simple device that has 3 or 4 Composite Video 3RCA inputs and 1 Output. There’s a switch of some type on the top that allows you to select which device you’re using. You simply just have to turn it or slide it to the right input. This will require you to get up, but if you’re using it with a game console or old VCR or something you probably would be getting up to set it up anyway.

An AV Switch like this one from Dick Smith Electronics, can be purchased at most electronics retailers for around $20 to $30, or you can find them on eBay.
